11th Annual Celebration of Grassroots Organizing in Boston / 11ª Celebración Anual de la Organización de Base en Boston

A lobster picnic to fund Boston's movements for justice and liberation: 15 organizations on the frontlines of Boston’s movements for racial, economic, and climate justice come together each summer to pause and share in the joy and abundance of our community.

Partner Organizations:

Let’s celebrate another year of the partners’ hard work on the frontlines: sustaining the neighborhoods most impacted by COVID, leading the movement for Black lives, uplifting youth voices, and defending communities from the harms of gentrification, policing, deportations, and climate change, among others. Let’s honor that work by nourishing ourselves and our community, raising $200,000 for our movements.

Event Details:

  • The event will be split between two seatings: 1 PM and 5 PM.
  • Main course options are Lobster, Chicken, and Vegan/GF Plate. Cole slaw, rolls, and pie will be served to all.
  • Beer and wine will be available for a suggested donation.
  • Accessibility: The event is on a lawn. When purchasing a ticket, you’ll have a chance to indicate if you have limited mobility so that we can seat you close to the entrance.
  • Language justice: Spanish interpretation will be available
  • We’ve had to raise prices this year to accommodate increasing event costs. Free tickets are still available to volunteers and to members of partner groups.

COVID Safety Precautions:

  • Vaccinations STRONGLY ENCOURAGED (MA vaccination information)
  • We strongly encourage attendees to take a rapid test before the event.
  • The event is fully outdoors, beneath a tent.
  • Contact tracing: We will contact all attendees in the case of a positive COVID test following the event

Besides attending, here are 5 ways you can help grow to the frontlines:

  • Be a Table Host or Table Captain, bringing your friends with you.
  • Spread the word! Share on social media using this toolkit.
  • Volunteer at the picnic on June 3
  • Sponsor the event, or ask a company or organization you know to sponsor.
  • Donate to the "Celebrate Grassroots Organizing Fund" - Your gift goes directly to the partners. You can click the donate link on the main event page (under tickets) or send a check to Resist, Inc (with “Celebration” in the memo line), PO Box 301240, Boston, MA 02130.

June 10th is the deadline for sponsors, partners, and table hosts/captains reserving their seats.
