All of us love and rely on domestic workers and restaurant workers in our daily lives! They serve us food, clean our homes, care for our children, and tend to our elderly family members with dignity & respect. Their labor makes all other work possible, and your donation to Matahari helps us to keep organizing for dignified working conditions for all.

Matahari fought to win the 2014 Massachusetts Domestic Workers Law, numerous wage theft cases so workers receive our hard earned wages, and for tipped workers to receive minimum wage in our state. We distributed over $1 million to workers in a time of great need under the COVID-19 pandemic, and have built a community where hundreds of workers can be connected to each other instead of isolated and overworked. Our movements are most powerful when working migrant women and femmes of color break isolation to connect, support each other, and strategize about our path forward. Although it sometimes limits our funding opportunities, Matahari is selective about which foundation grants we will consider so that our member-leaders are able to continue shaping our vision and plan to win dignity and respect for all workers.
